On April 20, 2010 a press release was issued by the Ken Mettler for Assembly campaign claiming to have been endorsed by the California Young Republicans. The California Young Republicans have not endorsed Ken Mettler or any candidate running in the 32nd Assembly District race.

The bylaws governing the California Young Republicans clearly state, “In no event shall the Annual Convention or the State Committee endorse and/or support Republicans for election to any local office if any Chapter or unit club in the candidate’s district objects to an endorsement by the State Committee or the Annual Convention.” In this instance, the Kern County Young Republicans have the sole authority to issue an endorsement on behalf of the California Young Republicans. The CYR bylaws can be found at http://www.cyr.org , the official website of CYR.

CYR Chairman Andy Stanley has communicated with Ken Mettler requesting an immediate retraction of the April 20th press release claiming a CYR endorsement.

This illegitimate endorsement originated from a group led by Jenniffer Rodriguez who is improperly representing themselves as leaders of CYR. An arbitration process is underway to resolve this issue. Details on the arbitration and the full statement of claim can be viewed at www.cyr.org.

KERN COUNTY YOUNG REPUBLICANS ANNOUNCE ENDORSING CONVENTION AND RESPOND TO
ILLEGITIMATE ENDORSMENTS BY FORMER CYR OFFICERS

BAKERSFIELD – The Kern County Young Republicans will host a GOP candidates meet and greet, immediately followed by their endorsing convention on Monday, May 3rd at the Bell Tower Club in Bakersfield.

All Republican candidates in races, ranging from the US House of Representatives to Kern County Board of Supervisors, have been invited. All interested Republicans are invited to stop by this free meet and greet and hear what our Republican candidates have to say!

WHAT: Kern County Young Republicans Candidates
Meet & Greet and Endorsing Convention

WHEN: Monday, May 3rd, 2010
6:00pm-7:00pm

WHERE: Bell Tower Club
1200 Truxtun Avenue
Bakersfield, CA

The KCYRs also contest the recent illegitimate endorsement announced by former members of CYR, Inc. who are improperly using the CYR name and touted by Ken Mettler, Candidate for the 32nd Assembly District. Under the bylaws that govern the organization, local clubs are the proper organization to issue an endorsement in a local race. Article XV A3 of the CYR, Inc bylaws states, “…no endorsement for such local office shall be made unless a specific endorsement is requested by Chapter in such candidate’s district…”
“The CYR, Inc bylaws are clear that they do not allow the state organization to supersede a local club in endorsing a local candidate,” said Bryan Williams, Chairman of the Kern County Young Republicans. “At our monthly meeting held Monday, April 19th, Mr. Mettler was directly asked not to accept the illegitimate endorsement made by those seeking to benefit their own political careers by attempting to harm the KCYRs directly. We continue to ask Mr. Mettler to reject their endorsement and wait for the KCYRs to hold a proper vote at our May 3rd endorsing convention.”

The Kern County Young Republicans were chartered in 1954 with the stated purpose of informing members and the public on political matters, supporting and volunteering for Republican candidates and playing an active and constructive role in the community. Over the years Kern County Young Republicans have served on numerous campaigns, worked for elected officials in many different levels of government and gone on to find great success in worlds of politics, business and law, to count just a few.

For Immediate Release
March 9, 2010
Contact: Andy Stanley
Phone: (661) 772-7695

California Young Republicans, Inc. (“California Young Republicans” or “CYRs”) filed a demand for arbitration today against former officers Jenniffer Rodriguez and Rohit Joy. On December 5, 2009, CYR held an annual convention where new officers were elected. After this convention, former Chair Rodriguez and former Secretary Joy disregarded the election results and continued to portray themselves as leaders of CYR despite no longer holding positions with the organization. Ms. Rodriguez and Mr. Joy further flaunted CYR’s organizational integrity on February 21, 2010 by holding a convention purporting to represent CYR and issuing endorsements on behalf of the organization without the approval of CYR.

The leadership of CYR has made every attempt to pursue dispute resolution within the requirements set forth by the California Republican Party and the Young Republican National Federation. These efforts have been unsuccessful and with all administrative remedies having been exhausted the CYR Board of Directors voted on March 3, 2010 to proceed with the arbitration process. The arbitration process has been initiated and will proceed as outlined in the bylaws of the California Young Republicans, Inc. as well as in accordance with the bylaws of the California Republican Party and the Young Republican National Federation.

February 19, 2010

Former CYR Chairmen statement on this weekend’s Young Republican convention:

We have been informed that there is currently a dispute over the leadership of the California Young Republicans, Inc. and we are concerned to hear that a Young Republican convention is being held this weekend that will potentially take actions on endorsing candidates for statewide office under the title of California Young Republicans. As past Chairmen of California Young Republicans, Incorporated we would ask that the participants of this weekend’s convention and those claiming to be in leadership positions of this organization not take part in any action that would issue an endorsement or any other public position.

We hope that the parties involved in the dispute over the leadership of the California Young Republicans will quickly agree to a dispute resolution process or neutral arbitration. It has always been the goal of California Young Republicans to be a positive force for the Republican Party and we ask those participating this weekend to continue that tradition.

Sincerely,

Congressman Kevin McCarthy
CYR, Inc. Chairman, 1995-1997
YRNF Chairman, 1999-2001

The establishment hosts a dance floor, a tapas restaurant, and a salsa dancing school called, “Let’s Dance L.A.”. Each Friday and Saturday, the best salsa bands in the area come to entertain pulsing crowds till 3, or 4 in the morning.
